Q Care Ltd was established in 1993 and the major activity of the company is the provision of personal care and domestic services in people’s own homes, primarily to the elderly and the disabled. After fifteen years development and expansion, Q Care is now a major provider of domiciliary care at a national level, working in partnership with twelve Local Authorities in England and Wales.
The company has fully embraced the National Minimum Care Standards and Regulations in both England and Wales, working closely with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and the Care and Social Services Inspectorate Wales (CSSIW). The company is pleased to have achieved a 2* rating (Good) in all branches in England in 2009 and a clear inspection report in Wales.
Q Care continues to carry out development projects to widen its experience and expertise. We are currently working with a number of local authorities on pilot projects developing and implementing:
Brokerage processes and procedure
Electronic Monitoring systems
Fair pricing tools
Outcome-focused care
Medicines management
For the last four years Q Care has managed and run a town centre coffee and craft shop on behalf of a local authority. Adults with learning difficulties are transferred from day centre facilities and trained for at least six months using the coffee shop as a launch pad to future employment opportunities. Over the course of the last four years almost 80 trainees have gained experience and qualifications in the coffee shop and a significant number have gone on to obtain employment in the local community.
Q Care also has a contract for the provision of a countywide floating support service to adults with a sensory loss. We have an experienced team of workers who all have sign language and guiding skills. The team provides housing related support in order to develop or maintain a service user’s ability to live independently.
